Garnish: Lemon-lime soda, to top, Maraschino cherry (1)

Batching tip: mix everything except ice up to a few hours ahead and keep it chilled. Pour over fresh ice to serve.

How to make it

  1. 1

Bring the water and sugar to a boil in a large pot and boil for 3 to 5 minutes, then let it cool completely.

  2. 2

Stir in the lemonade concentrate, orange juice concentrate, pineapple juice and rum.

  3. 3

Pour into a large freezer-safe container with a lid and freeze for at least one night, stirring about every 12 hours.

  4. 4

To serve, scoop about 2 scoops into a glass and top with lemon-lime soda.

  5. 5

Garnish each glass with a maraschino cherry.

Swap it: Active time is about 30 minutes; the slush needs to freeze overnight or longer. Because of the sugar and alcohol it stays scoopable rather than freezing solid. Alcohol-free version: leave out the rum and add an extra cup of pineapple juice.
